    Fed. Varsity Lokoja holds Maiden Research Works Exhibition, Showcases Potentials

    The Federal University, Lokoja, on Wednesday held the maiden Research Works Exhibition to showcase research work products as part of activities marking the 6th and 7th Combined Convocation Ceremony of the institution.

    Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, Vice Chancellor of the University, declared the exhibition open at the institution’s main Auditorium at Adankolo Campus in Lokoja.

    Akinwumi said that the exhibition was featuring research breakthroughs from Faculties of Science and Entrepreneurship alongside the abundant mineral resources and natural endowments in the state.

    “Our goal for the maiden exhibition is to showcase what we are doing to the public and worldwide”, the VC said

    Prof. Akinwumi called on the Federal Government to assist the University in funding of future research exhibition projects inview of the dwindling finances of the institution.

    Mr Victor Adewale Omofaiye, Kogi State Commissioner for Environment, while speaking at the event, commended Prof. Akinwumi for the initiative and “sound innovation” to embark on the exhibition project.

    The Commissioner reiterated the commitment of the state government towards providing enabling environment for the growth of the University in both academic and infrastructural development.

    Omofaiye congratulated the graduands and the University on the 6th and 7th Combined Convocation Ceremony.

    Prof. Nasirudeen Suleiman, the University’s Director of Research commended the visionary move of the management of the institution, describing the exhibition as a laudable initiative that would go a long way in boosting research works and skills acquisition.

    Prof. Suleiman called on the Federal Government and relevant authorities as well as the University’s Management, to invest more in research and innovation.

    Personalities and entrepreneurs from the manufacturing sector in Kogi state as well as researchers from Nasarawa State University, witnessed the exhibition ceremony. (Ends)
