Governor Malam Umar Namadi Danmodi of Jigawa State has expressed concern over the high level of absentees among the state’s civil servants including permanent secretaries in the state.

The governor made the observatio while speaking to news men during his unscheduled visit to the state’s secretariat on Monday
He stated that, “It is disappointing the level of absenteeism among both senior and junior workers in the secretariat”.

Malam Namadi noted that, a situation where majority of the workers are absent, ‘I am really not happy with what I have seen. Both senior and junior workers yet to report to work at 11.00am. This is not good”.

The governor maintained that it is difficult for the State to progress with that type of attitude.
“We must bear in mind that nobody outside JIgawa state will come to develop the State for us except the indigenes”.

“All of the workers are indigenes of the state. Remember we all promised to be frequent and dedicated while recieving the offer and letter of appointments”.

He called for a change of attitude among the workers for the development of the State.
According to the National Update checks, the governor met only three permanent secretaries; that of budget and economic planning, ministry of education, establishment and labor matters and the Accountant General and few directors.

A senior officer at the office of the Head of Service in the state who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the governor directed them to take the list of absentees.

“As I’m talking to you now we are doing just that. We are compiling the list all permanent secretaries, directors and other senior officers who were absent during his unscheduled visit to the state’s secretariat complex this afternoon”.
The governor was in the state secretariat at 11:30am on Monday when he went round the ministries and agencies in the complex where he remained till noon only to discover that the few workers present were mostly messengers, cleaners and junior staff.
