Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC),Omoyele Sowore has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) and persons allegedly linked to the Ekiti State Government House of backing an attack on him and his associates in Ado-Ekiti.
Sowore alleged that the attack followed days of surveillance and harassment by security operatives, raising concerns over the safety of political actors ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The activist said suspected political thugs attacked him and members of his team shortly after he finished a radio interview at MIDAS FM 90.5 in Ado-Ekiti on Friday, October 30, 2026.
In posts on social media, he claimed the attackers came from the Government House and received tracking and operational support from DSS operatives. The allegations have not been independently verified.
Sowore further alleged that the harassment began on Thursday, shortly after his team arrived in the state.
He claimed DSS operatives trailed their movements and intimidated people who offered them services, including the manager of a facility where the team had eaten.
According to him, the manager was warned against allowing the group to use the premises again.
The AAC candidate also accused the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Falade Adegoroye Michael, of downplaying the incident by describing it as an “altercation” and the injuries sustained by the victims as “minor”.
Sowore maintained that the commissioner had visited the location where he and his associates were receiving emergency medical attention and had seen their injuries before the police issued their account.
He rejected the police description, insisting that he and his associates were attacked rather than involved in a confrontation.
The allegations have placed the conduct of security agencies and the protection of opposition figures under renewed scrutiny as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
However, the available account did not include responses from the DSS, the Ekiti State Government or the police to Sowore’s claims. Their positions are necessary for a balanced assessment of the incident.
