The Director-General of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) National Campaign Council, Felix Hassan Hyat, has tasked party stakeholders on the need for grassroots mobilisation for Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde ahead of the January 16, 2027 presidential election.
Hyat gave the charge on Tuesday while receiving party stakeholders from Zone III, Kaduna South, at the APM Campaign Office in Abuja.
His Senior Personal Assistant on Media Thompson Yamput quoted him to have called on Nigerians to support Makinde as a replacement for President Bola Tinubu.
He argued that the country needed competent leadership to address worsening hunger, poverty and insecurity.
“Go and tell Nigerians to allow Makinde to replace Tinubu to clean up the mess and save Nigeria from total collapse,” Hyat said.
He described Makinde as a quiet achiever whose performance spoke louder than publicity, comparing him with former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, whom he said was known for his quiet disposition and achievements.
Hyat also urged Nigerians to uphold the principle of power rotation, arguing that the South should complete an eight-year presidential tenure before power shifts to another region.
He warned that another Tinubu administration would worsen the country’s challenges, insisting that the President had failed to put adequate measures in place to address the situation.
“With Makinde in the lead, we shall rescue Nigeria. He has the capacity,” he said.
The APM campaign chief also expressed confidence that Makinde and his reported running mate, Lawan Daura, could tackle the country’s security challenges, citing Daura’s background in security matters.
Hyat urged party stakeholders to intensify campaigns across communities and mobilise voters for the presidential election scheduled for January 16, 2027.
Earlier, the leader and spokesperson of the visiting delegation, Comrade Joseph Ayuba Bako, congratulated Hyat on his appointment as director-general of the APM National Campaign Council and pledged the group’s support.
Bako, a former vice-chairman of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), described the appointment as a source of pride for the constituency.
He assured Hyat that the stakeholders would mobilise support for the party in Kaduna South and work towards Makinde’s electoral victory.
“By God’s grace, we won’t fail to deliver for APM in Kaduna South, your constituency, come 2027. You remain our mentor, and we won’t let you down nor disappoint Gov. Makinde,” Bako said.
He added that the group would intensify grassroots mobilisation upon returning to the constituency to encourage residents to participate in the election.
