The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State has dismissed the political significance of the emerging “Rainbow Coalition” in the state, insisting that its existing structures and grassroots network remain intact ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The state APC chairman, Hon. Warman Weri Ogoriba, said the party had the membership, organisation and grassroots structures required to campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other officially nominated APC candidates.
Ogoriba, in a statement on Friday, said the APC remained focused and organised across Bayelsa’s eight local government areas and political wards.
His comments come against the backdrop of moves by opposition figures and political actors to build a coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.
The APC chairman said the party would not be distracted by alliances outside its structure, adding that its priority was to consolidate its membership, strengthen internal unity and deepen grassroots mobilisation.
“The task before the party is to remain organised, disciplined and committed to the collective objective of advancing the APC and supporting its candidates at all levels,” Ogoriba said.
He said the party’s existing structures, members, stakeholders and grassroots networks would form the foundation of its campaign for the 2027 elections.
Ogoriba also urged APC members and supporters across the state to remain united and focused, assuring them that the party leadership would continue engaging stakeholders and mobilising support across communities.
The Bayelsa APC leadership, he added, would continue working to strengthen the party’s structures and coordinate its activities ahead of the elections.
The chairman’s position sets up a contest between the APC’s established party machinery and emerging opposition efforts to forge a broader political coalition in Bayelsa ahead of 2027.
