A Christian youth group in Adamawa State has declared its support for Allied Peoples Movement governorship candidate, Abdulrahman Bashir Haske, ahead of the 2027 election.

The Adamawa State Youth Christian Movement for Change made the declaration during a press conference in the state.

The group said its decision followed consultations, prayers and its assessment of candidates seeking to govern the state.

Its Chairman, Comrade Yakuba Maigari, said members were drawn from churches and Christian communities across the 21 local government areas of Adamawa.

He said the group was supporting Haske because of what it described as his record in business, youth empowerment, philanthropy and humanitarian activities.

“Our decision was not based on sentiment, but rather on track records, capacity and character,” Maigari said.

The group also said it viewed Haske as a candidate who could promote inclusion across ethnic and religious lines.

Maigari described him as “a lover of humanity” and said the state needed leadership focused on development and unity.

The group said it intended to mobilise support for Haske across Adamawa’s 226 wards.

“We will canvas votes for Abdulrahman Bashir Haske in all nooks and crannies of Adamawa State,” it said.

It also called on Christian youths, women, men and other residents who identify with its stated development concerns to join its campaign.

The group said its priorities included job creation, security, youth empowerment and development.

Haske recently left the All Progressives Congress and joined the APM, where he emerged as the party’s governorship candidate.

He had previously sought the APC governorship ticket.

Haske has outlined agriculture, infrastructure, education, healthcare, economic empowerment, security and accountable governance as areas of focus for his campaign.

The youth group’s declaration is one of the public expressions of support around Haske as political activities ahead of the 2027 Adamawa governorship election continue.
