Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Babangida Nguroje, has urged Taraba residents and political stakeholders to put aside their differences and work together for the continued development of the state.
Nguroje made the call in a message marking the 35th anniversary of Taraba State, stressing that the issues that unite the people are greater than those that divide them.
The former deputy speaker, who is also an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, commended the founding fathers of the state for establishing a strong foundation for its growth.
He described Taraba as a state with enormous potential, citing its favourable climate, strategic location, human resources, energy prospects and natural resources as major assets.
Nguroje said the relative peace and stability in Taraba had also played an important role in sustaining its development and promoting peaceful coexistence among its diverse communities.
He praised Governor Agbu Kefas and former governors Jolly Nyame and Darius Ishaku, the late Danbaba Suntai, former military administrators and other stakeholders for their contributions to the state’s development.
He also commended traditional rulers for preserving Taraba’s cultural heritage and promoting unity among the people.
Nguroje said the foundations for economic growth being strengthened under the Kefas administration should be sustained, regardless of political differences.
He urged residents to use the anniversary to reflect on the state’s achievements, build on positive legacies and renew their commitment to its progress.
“What binds the people of Taraba collectively must remain a priority above personal interests, political differences and other considerations,” he said.
