Senator Suleiman Kawu Sumaila has urged the APC Presidential Campaign Council to make Nigerians’ economic hardship a central issue in its 2027 campaign and explain how the government intends to provide relief.
Kawu, representing Kano South, gave the advice in a goodwill message congratulating Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari on his appointment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
The senator said the campaign must approach voters with empathy, listen to their concerns and show a clear understanding of the economic pressures facing families.

He also urged the council to strengthen its grassroots engagement, warning that a disconnect between political leaders and voters could create misunderstanding and weaken support for President Bola Tinubu and the APC.
Kawu called for strict compliance with the Electoral Act and the Constitution, saying the campaign must be conducted within the law and anchored on public trust.
He further advised the campaign team to clearly communicate Tinubu’s policies, programmes and vision to Nigerians and demonstrate how the administration’s initiatives would improve their lives.
On party unity, Kawu urged APC leaders and members to resolve internal disagreements and work together ahead of the 2027 election.
He expressed confidence in Yari’s ability to lead the campaign council and wished him and other members success in the assignment.
