Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has described his re-election as a renewed vote of confidence from the people, pledging to use his second term to accelerate development and transform the state into a stronger commercial hub.

Adeleke, speaking after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him winner of Saturday’s governorship election, said the result reflected the electorate’s appreciation of his administration’s record in infrastructure, education, agriculture and other sectors.

“This is a victory for the people of Osun who have stood by me and acknowledged the work I have done,” the governor said.

According to him, the people had recognised the dividends of democracy delivered by his administration, adding that the renewed mandate came with a greater responsibility to meet their expectations.

He said: “This win is simply a gesture of ‘thank you’. I will repay this gesture by ensuring the state moves from a civil-service state to a fully developed commercial state.”

Adeleke also extended a post-election olive branch to his major challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, expressing the expectation that he would call to congratulate him on the outcome.

The governor disclosed that President Bola Tinubu had also called to congratulate him on his victory.

Adeleke’s re-election followed a keenly contested poll in which he defeated Oyebamiji to secure another four-year term.

The governor said the renewed mandate represented a fresh opportunity for his administration to consolidate its programmes while pursuing more ambitious development across the state.

He promised that the confidence reposed in him by Osun voters would translate into stronger efforts to improve infrastructure, education, agriculture and economic opportunities.

With the election now concluded, Adeleke faces the task of converting his renewed electoral mandate into tangible development while bringing together a state divided by intense political competition during the campaign.
