The official publication of Prince Adewole Adebayo as the Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate for the 2027 general election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has sparked celebrations across the party, with leaders declaring that the race to Aso Rock has formally begun.
Leading the congratulatory messages was the Chairman of the SDP in Delta State, Mr. Felix Obuseh, who described INEC’s confirmation of Adebayo’s candidacy as a major milestone in the party’s quest to produce Nigeria’s next president.
In a statement on behalf of the Delta State chapter, Obuseh said the development had rekindled hope among Nigerians yearning for credible, competent and people-centred leadership.
“This marks the beginning of a historic journey to Aso Rock. Your emergence has renewed the hope of millions of Nigerians who desire competent, honest and people-centred leadership,” he said.
Expressing optimism about the party’s electoral prospects, Obuseh declared that the road to the 2027 presidential election was now clearly defined, adding that victory was achievable through unity, grassroots mobilisation and the support of Nigerians.
He pledged the unwavering commitment of the Delta State chapter to Adebayo’s presidential campaign, assuring the party’s standard-bearer of its full backing until the election.
The Chairman of the SDP in Zamfara State, Arc. Bilal Aliyu Gusau, also congratulated Adebayo on the official recognition of his candidacy by INEC, describing it as a significant step towards the 2027 presidential contest.
He wished the party’s presidential candidate a successful campaign and urged members to remain united in pursuit of the party’s electoral objectives.
Similarly, Comrade Cotterell Tumbodiaa described INEC’s publication of the SDP presidential ticket as a defining moment for the party and its supporters.
He said Adebayo’s clearance, alongside that of his running mate, reflected his resilience, steadfast leadership and commitment to offering Nigerians a credible alternative.
Tumbodiaa prayed for divine wisdom, strength and good health for the SDP candidate as he prepares for what he described as a crucial campaign ahead of the 2027 general election.
