The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly Legislative Aides Support Group (ANALAG) has formally launched a nationwide mobilisation campaign for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the return of APC federal lawmakers in the 2027 general elections, setting an ambitious target of mobilising at least 36 million supporters across the country.
The group said it plans to enlist a minimum of one million supporters in each of Nigeria’s 36 states, leveraging the extensive grassroots networks of legislative aides attached to members of the National Assembly.
Speaking at the inauguration of the mobilisation drive in Abuja on Wednesday, the National Coordinator of ANALAG, Ambassador Ayoola Ronke Fakunle, said the initiative reflects the confidence of legislative aides in President Tinubu’s leadership and the performance of APC lawmakers.
According to her, the group comprises legislative aides, political associates and supporters of National Assembly members who are committed to consolidating the achievements of the Tinubu administration by ensuring his return to office in 2027.
“Our aim and objective is to support Mr President for his re-election in 2027 because of the good work he has been doing for Nigeria,” Fakunle said.
“The lawmakers have also been performing wonderfully well. They are our principals and we are in support of them.”
Fakunle, who also serves as the Women Leader of the National Assembly Legislative Aides Forum (NASLAF), commended President Tinubu for taking what she described as bold and courageous decisions to reposition the Nigerian economy, particularly the removal of the fuel subsidy, which she said previous administrations had avoided.
While acknowledging that the economic reforms have imposed short-term hardships on many Nigerians, she urged the Federal Government to deepen interventions in critical sectors such as education, healthcare and youth empowerment to cushion their impact.
“We appreciate the bold reforms of the President, but government should continue to strengthen support for education, healthcare and young graduates so that ordinary Nigerians can better cope with the challenges of the ongoing economic reforms,” she said.
Fakunle, a former aspirant for the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency seat in Kwara State, disclosed that the support group has already established coordinators in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
She said following the Abuja launch, the group would immediately move into communities across the country to commence ward-by-ward and local government mobilisation ahead of the 2027 polls.
Also speaking, the National Secretary of ANALAG, Barrister Mike Anibueze, described the event as the formal take-off of a nationwide political mobilisation structure designed to rally grassroots support for President Tinubu and APC candidates.
According to him, legislative aides possess extensive political experience and grassroots reach that would be deployed to strengthen the party’s electoral fortunes across the federation.
“Today marks the beginning of our nationwide mobilisation for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the return of APC lawmakers in 2027. We will leverage our grassroots structures and constituency networks to deliver support for the administration and our candidates,” Anibueze said.
He also appealed to the Federal Government to sustain investments in education, healthcare and other social programmes capable of improving citizens’ welfare and reinforcing public confidence in the administration.
Speaking on behalf of the South-East chapter of the group, William Onyemaechi said legislative aides occupy a unique position within Nigeria’s political structure because of their direct interaction with constituents.
He argued that the aides understand the needs of their communities and are therefore well placed to mobilise public support for the APC at the grassroots.
Onyemaechi urged Nigerians, particularly young people, to remain patient with the Tinubu administration, insisting that major reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the push for local government autonomy would ultimately yield lasting benefits for the country.
“The benefits of some of these reforms may not come immediately, but they will strengthen Nigeria in the long run. We appeal to Nigerians, especially the youths, to remain patient and continue supporting the administration,” he said.
Similarly, Hajiya Halimat Akokhia reaffirmed the group’s commitment to President Tinubu’s second-term bid, saying members across the federation were prepared to embark on aggressive grassroots mobilisation to secure victory for the President and APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
She maintained that the administration had recorded measurable progress since assuming office and deserved another mandate to consolidate its reforms.
