Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has paid glowing tribute to the late founder and leader of All Christians Fellowship (ACF), Abuja, Rev. William Okoye, describing him as a towering Christian leader whose life exemplified faith, integrity and selfless service to God and humanity.
Reacting to the cleric’s passing, Adebayo said Nigeria had lost a spiritual father whose ministry left an indelible mark on the Christian community and whose influence would continue to shape lives for generations.
In a statement released on Friday, he noted that Rev. Okoye devoted decades of his life to preaching the Gospel, promoting righteous living and building bridges across denominational divides, earning the respect of Christians and non-Christians alike.
According to him, the late cleric’s unwavering commitment to truth, justice, peace and national reconciliation made him one of the country’s most influential voices on moral leadership and Christian values.
He said Rev. Okoye was deeply committed to raising men and women of integrity, stressing that his teachings inspired countless believers to pursue lives of holiness, compassion and service.
“His ministry was not confined to the pulpit. He invested in people, strengthened families, mentored leaders and consistently called the nation to higher moral standards,” Adebayo said.
The former presidential candidate expressed condolences on behalf of his family, the Social Democratic Party and Nigerians who cherish faithful service to the family of the deceased, the leadership and members of All Christians Fellowship, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and Christians across Nigeria and the diaspora.
While mourning the revered cleric, Adebayo urged believers to celebrate a life well lived, saying Rev. Okoye’s enduring legacy should inspire Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and commitment to serving both God and society.
Quoting Revelation 14:13, he said Christians should find comfort in the promise that those who die in the Lord are blessed because they rest from their labours, while their righteous works continue to bear fruit.
He prayed for divine comfort for the bereaved family, the Church and all those touched by Rev. Okoye’s ministry, asking God to raise a new generation of faithful servants who would continue the work and values the late cleric embodied.
“May Almighty God grant him eternal rest and comfort all who mourn his passing,” Adebayo said.
