Executive Director of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and Head of Transparency International (TI) Nigeria, Auwal Ibrahim Musa Rafsanjani, has been honoured with the Transparency International Amalia Award for Individual Professional Excellence, in recognition of his leadership and contributions to the global campaign against corruption.

Rafsanjani received the prestigious award at the Transparency International Movement Awards Ceremony held on July 1, at the conclusion of the TI Summit 2026, which brought together anti-corruption advocates from across the world.

Named after the late Amalia Kostanyan, former Chair of Transparency International Armenia, the award is among the organisation’s highest honours, celebrating individuals and national chapters that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to advancing transparency, accountability and integrity.

Transparency International said Rafsanjani earned the recognition for his sustained efforts in promoting democratic governance, public accountability and anti-corruption reforms in Nigeria and beyond.

The organisation noted that under his leadership, CISLAC has deepened evidence-based policy advocacy, championed fiscal transparency, strengthened electoral integrity initiatives and expanded regional collaboration, helping to shape Nigeria’s anti-corruption agenda while increasing the visibility of Transparency International Nigeria within the global movement.

Presenting the award, Chair of Transparency International, François Valérian, commended Rafsanjani for his steadfast commitment to the anti-corruption cause and his principled leadership.

According to Valérian, Transparency International Nigeria has, under Rafsanjani’s stewardship, emerged as a more influential voice within the global movement through its active participation in international conferences, policy engagements and collaborative anti-corruption initiatives.

He added that Rafsanjani’s resilience, impactful advocacy and commitment to promoting transparency and accountability across Nigeria and Africa had earned him global recognition.

Responding to the honour, Rafsanjani dedicated the award to the CISLAC team, development partners and anti-corruption advocates who have supported the organisation’s work over the years.

He described the recognition as a validation of their collective efforts and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing institutional reforms, democratic governance and accountability across Nigeria, Africa and the international community.

The award further highlights CISLAC’s growing influence within the Transparency International movement and reinforces its role in promoting good governance, strengthening democratic institutions and advancing the global fight against corruption.
