The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has appointed CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
The appointment places the experienced officer at the helm of the Force Public Relations Department, where he will oversee the Nigeria Police Force’s strategic communication and public engagement efforts.
A native of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, CSP Iniedu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo. He has also undergone several professional courses in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, intelligence analysis, strategic communication, and human rights-based policing.
Before his elevation, Iniedu served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he coordinated public complaint management and spearheaded initiatives aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and public confidence in policing.
His career spans several operational, intelligence, and administrative assignments across the country. He previously served as Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology in Kobape, Ogun State, and held positions including Operations Officer in Yobe State, Area Crime Officer in Abia State, Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat, Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa, and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room.
Announcing the appointment, the Inspector-General expressed confidence in CSP Iniedu’s ability to strengthen the Force’s communication architecture, deepen engagement with citizens and the media, and support ongoing policing reforms.
The Police leadership noted that Iniedu’s blend of operational experience and communication expertise would be instrumental in projecting the achievements of the Force and fostering stronger public trust.
