Retired judge, respected legal scholar, and author, Hon. Justice (Professor) Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye, is set to turn the spotlight from legal scholarship to educational empowerment with the launch of a foundation dedicated to supporting indigent students across Nigeria.
The Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye Educational Foundation for Indigent Students will be officially unveiled on July 2, 2026, during the public presentation of two groundbreaking books on electronic evidence in Abuja.
The event, scheduled to hold at the ultra-modern Conference Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Jabi, is expected to draw leading figures from the judiciary, academia, legal profession, government, technology sector, and civil society.
Beyond the book presentation, the launch of the foundation is expected to be the defining moment of the gathering, underscoring Justice Ajileye’s commitment to ensuring that talented young Nigerians are not denied educational opportunities because of financial hardship.
The foundation will provide scholarships, mentorship programmes, educational assistance, and other forms of support to academically gifted but underprivileged students, helping them pursue their dreams and contribute meaningfully to national development.
According to organizers, the initiative reflects Justice Ajileye’s personal story of perseverance and academic excellence. Having risen through the ranks of the legal profession through dedication and hard work, he is now seeking to create pathways for others facing similar challenges.
The launch will coincide with the unveiling of two major publications: Electronic Evidence (Second Edition, 2026) and A Compendium of Cases on Electronic Evidence, Volume Two (2020–2025). The books are regarded as important additions to Nigeria’s legal literature, offering contemporary insights into the growing influence of technology and digital evidence in judicial proceedings.
Organizers say the occasion will celebrate not only intellectual contributions to the law but also a broader vision of social impact through education.
With the foundation’s launch, Justice Ajileye is seeking to transform decades of scholarship, public service, and mentorship into a lasting legacy that could open doors for countless young Nigerians striving for a better future.
The statement announcing the event was jointly signed by Tawo E. Tawo, SAN and A. A. Malik, SAN on behalf of the organizing committee.
