NDC Imo Launches Grassroots Expansion, Unveils Strong Mobilisation Drive

The Imo State chapter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has formally stepped into its operational phase with a powerful inaugural State Executive Committee meeting held in Owerri.
Addressing a well-attended gathering, State Chairman, Barr. Reginald Uwakwe, declared that despite being barely two months since its official registration, the party has already activated a robust membership drive anchored on its digital registration platform.
He stressed that all prospective members must provide either their National Identification Number (NIN) or voter’s card, underscoring the party’s commitment to accountability and credible membership records.
In line with directives from the national leadership, Uwakwe announced an ambitious target of at least 300 registered members per ward, urging party structures at all levels to intensify mobilisation efforts and ensure widespread participation across communities.
He further revealed the immediate establishment of two critical organs—the Contact and Mobilisation Committee, and the Finance Committee—designed to strengthen coordination, outreach, and resource management within the party.
Reinforcing the urgency of mobilisation, the South East National Vice Chairman, Chief Tedy Obey, charged all party officers to lead the registration drive by actively enrolling online and galvanising support, with a particular emphasis on women and youth inclusion.
He noted that the party’s leadership in Abuja is keen on building a dynamic and people-driven structure capable of competing effectively, while calling on members to remain steadfast, committed, and focused on the party’s long-term vision.
Adding her voice, the State Woman Leader, Mrs Uche Judith Ngozi, expressed strong confidence in the party’s growing strength, pledging to leverage her experience to drive mobilisation and ensure active participation of women in the party’s activities.
Barr. Uwakwe reaffirmed that the NDC is working deliberately to entrench solid structures across wards, local government areas, and zones in Imo State, setting the stage for a formidable political movement rooted in discipline, expansion, and grassroots engagement.
