Yusuf Buhari has formally entered Nigeria’s political arena, declaring his ambition to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The announcement, confirmed by Bashir Ahmad, follows a series of strategic consultations with political stakeholders and community leaders—signaling a carefully planned debut into partisan politics.
In a letter dated April 3, Yusuf unveiled his intention to represent the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua federal constituency in Katsina State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Framing his candidacy as a call to service, he pledged to drive grassroots development, with a focus on infrastructure and human capital—key issues in the constituency.
The move places the son of former President Muhammadu Buhari firmly on the political map, extending the Buhari family’s influence into a new generation.
With early alignments already taking shape, Yusuf’s entry is expected to energize the political landscape in Katsina and set the stage for a high-stakes contest as the road to 2027 begins to unfold.
