Tragedy in Classroom: Kogi Poly Lecturer Slumps, Dies Before Students

A quiet lecture session at Kogi State Polytechnic turned tragic on Thursday morning when a respected academic, Dr. Anselm Victory Ojodomo, suddenly collapsed while teaching and was later confirmed dead.
The shocking incident occurred around 10 a.m. as the Public Administration lecturer stood before his students, delivering what began as a routine lecture.
Eyewitnesses said the class was in progress when Dr. Ojodomo abruptly paused mid-sentence, appearing visibly distressed. Within moments, he slumped to the floor, sending waves of panic through the lecture hall.
Students, initially stunned, quickly rushed to his aid, attempting to revive him. When their efforts failed, they raised the alarm, drawing the attention of medical personnel within the institution.
He was promptly evacuated to a nearby hospital, but all attempts to save his life proved unsuccessful. Doctors later confirmed him dead.
Colleagues and students described Dr. Ojodomo as a dedicated and widely admired lecturer whose sudden death has left the campus community in deep shock and mourning.
The tragedy is made even more poignant by the fact that he had only recently achieved a major academic milestone. Sources revealed that he successfully defended his PhD thesis just weeks ago and was awaiting formal confirmation of his doctoral status—a moment he had long worked towards.
As news of his passing spread, grief rippled across the institution, with students struggling to come to terms with the loss of a teacher many regarded as both mentor and inspiration.
Authorities at the polytechnic are yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of press time.
