Nigeria’s political elite has been thrown into mourning following the death of the mother of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu leading a wave of heartfelt condolences.
In a deeply personal tribute, the President described the passing as a painful and irreplaceable loss, noting that the death of a mother cuts to the very core of family life.
According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said he could fully relate to the grief El-Rufai is experiencing, recalling that he too has felt the weight of such a loss.
He described the late matriarch as a woman who lived a fulfilled and meaningful life—one that produced children and grandchildren who have gone on to contribute to the growth and development of the nation.
The President urged the grieving family to draw strength from her enduring legacy, saying her values, guidance, and sacrifices would continue to echo through the lives she touched.
“As people of faith,” Tinubu added, “there is comfort in believing she has returned to her Creator after fulfilling her purpose on earth.”
He joined millions of Nigerians in mourning, praying for the peaceful repose of her soul and asking Allah to grant her Aljannah Firdaus.
Governor Uba Sani and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu also joined in expressing condolences, standing in solidarity with the El-Rufai family at a moment marked by grief, reflection, and quiet remembrance.
