A socio-political organisation, Good Governance Youths of Kogi Central, has endorsed Dr Suberu Yusuf John, Senior Special Assistant on Road Safety Matters to Ahmed Usman Ododo, for the Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group said its decision followed a careful and objective assessment of aspirants seeking to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives.
In a statement signed by its General Coordinator, Comrade Isaiah Omeiza Aaron, and made available to journalists in Lokoja, the group described Dr Yusuf John as a value-driven and people-oriented leader whose ideals align with its commitment to good governance, youth empowerment and grassroots development.
Aaron noted that the organisation remains dedicated to promoting peace, supporting development initiatives at both federal and state levels, and advancing the welfare of residents in the Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency.
“Following a careful and objective assessment of all aspirants contesting for this position, we unanimously endorse Dr Suberu Yusuf John,” he said.
He added that the endorsement was influenced by the aspirant’s track record in community development, youth empowerment and educational support for the less privileged.
“He has demonstrated a value-driven and people-oriented approach to leadership, marked by integrity, competence and a strong commitment to sustainable development and societal progress.
“At a time when purposeful, effective and responsive representation is critically needed, Dr Suberu Yusuf John stands out as the most qualified candidate to deliver quality representation and attract meaningful development to our constituency,” Aaron stated.
The group called on constituents, particularly youths across Kogi Central, to rally behind his aspiration ahead of the 2027 polls.
Dr Yusuf John had earlier, on March 18, formally declared his intention to contest the seat at Ege Primary School Football Field in Adavi Local Government Area.
At the event, he unveiled several pre-election initiatives, including scholarships for 40 students, distribution of food items to about 1,500 indigent residents, and financial and phone support to over 100 beneficiaries.
Speaking at the declaration, the aspirant said his ambition was driven by a desire to provide purposeful representation and address pressing socio-economic challenges in the constituency.
“My declaration today is a confession and a cry from the heart of a son who deeply loves his people and can no longer remain silent while his land suffers,” he said.
He identified key challenges in the constituency to include poor road networks, lack of potable water, insecurity and inadequate access to quality education.
He pledged to prioritise job creation, skills training, entrepreneurship support for youths, and empowerment programmes for women if elected in 2027.
