Wike Camp Insists PDP Won’t Back Tinubu in 2027

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has firmly ruled out supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The group dismissed growing speculation of a possible alliance with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting it remains committed to presenting its own presidential candidate.
Speaking on Morning Brief, a programme on Channels Television, the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, described the reports as unfounded.
“We are not supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 general election. We will do everything to field our own candidate,” he said.
Mohammed appealed for patience from party members and supporters, noting that the PDP would unveil its direction as it approaches its primaries.
He further argued that claims linking the bloc to the APC were deliberate attempts to discredit both the party and Wike.
Despite internal tensions within the party, Mohammed maintained that the PDP structure remains intact and resilient, expressing confidence that it will remain a formidable force ahead of the next election cycle.
