The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sunday Steve Karimi, has congratulated Olufemi Haruna on his promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in the Nigeria Police Force.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the lawmaker described the elevation as “eminently deserved,” noting that it followed a rigorous and transparent process conducted by the Police Service Commission.
Karimi said Haruna’s rise to one of the highest ranks in the police force reflects years of discipline, professionalism, and dedication to duty.
“I have followed your career very closely over the years, particularly from your time in the Police Mobile Force Squadron 24, also known as the Presidential Escort, attached to the Presidential Villa since 1999,” the senator said. “Your sterling sense of discipline and commitment has always stood you out.”
He noted that Haruna’s academic and professional accomplishments, including his distinction at the Police Staff College Senior Officers’ Course and the award of psc(+), underscored his commitment to excellence.
The senator also highlighted Haruna’s extensive experience, having served as Deputy Commissioner of Police at the Force Intelligence Bureau and as Commissioner of Police in Oyo State before his latest promotion.
According to him, Haruna’s current posting as AIG in charge of the Special Protection Unit is a fitting culmination of a distinguished career in service.
Karimi, who described the senior police officer as a proud son of Ife-Olukutun in Yagba East Local Government Area, said his achievement is a source of pride to the people of Kogi West.
“I am immensely proud of you as my constituent. Your success is inspiring and a testament to what dedication and hard work can achieve,” he said.
