Security Forces Bust Arms Supply Ring, Arrest Key Gunrunner in North-Central

A major breakthrough has been recorded in Nigeria’s counter-terrorism operations as troops, working with the Office of the National Security Adviser, arrested a suspected arms supplier believed to be fueling terrorist activities along the Kwara–Kogi axis.
The suspect was captured during a targeted operation in Nasarawa State, where security operatives recovered ammunition and cash suspected to be linked to ongoing criminal networks.
Military authorities say the arrest is part of a broader offensive aimed at dismantling logistics chains that sustain terrorism and banditry across the country.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Michael Onoja, disclosed that coordinated operations across multiple states have led to further breakthroughs, including the interception of an ammunition courier by the Department of State Services in Kano.
Additional arrests were made in Kaduna State, Sokoto State, and Kebbi State, targeting suspected collaborators and informants linked to terror groups.
In one instance, troops swiftly responded to intelligence reports of armed activity in a Kaduna community, forcing suspected attackers to abandon their mission before any major damage was done.
Security forces also disrupted logistical support channels in Kwara, arresting suspects attempting to deliver motorcycles believed to be intended for terrorist operations.
Military sources say intelligence gathered from the arrests is already aiding efforts to track down other members of the network and prevent further attacks.
The Armed Forces maintain that the latest operations highlight a shift toward targeting the supply chains behind terrorism, rather than just confronting fighters on the battlefield.
“Disrupting these networks is key to ending the cycle of violence,” a defence official noted.
Authorities have assured Nigerians that sustained operations will continue across all regions to degrade and dismantle criminal groups threatening national stability.
