Ahmed Usman Ododo, Governor of Kogi State, has been honoured with the 2025 Governor of the Year Award on Youth Development and Security by Champion Newspapers Limited.
The recognition highlights Governor Ododo’s efforts in empowering young people and strengthening security across the state. He was selected among distinguished Nigerians celebrated for their contributions at the Champion Newspapers Annual Awards.
Speaking on the award, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, described it as a testament to Ododo’s commitment to youth empowerment and sustaining peace in Kogi State.
Isah emphasised that the award reflects the impact of the administration’s youth-focused policies, including skills development programmes, job creation initiatives, and support for young entrepreneurs.
He also noted that Governor Ododo’s collaboration with security agencies and local security outfits has been central to maintaining peace and stability across the state’s communities.
According to Isah, the governor remains committed to creating opportunities for young people while enhancing Kogi State’s security framework, fostering a safe and productive environment for economic and social development.
The Champion Newspapers Annual Awards ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Eko Hotels & Suites, where prominent Nigerians from diverse sectors will be celebrated for their contributions to national development.
