Kogi Central Senator Urges Calm, Dialogue in Tracy Ohiri–Umahi Controversy

The Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has called for restraint, dialogue and respect for the rule of law following the arrest of Tracy Nicholas Ohiri in a matter reportedly involving the Minister of Works, David Umahi.
In a statement, the lawmaker commended Nigerians who have spoken out on the issue, describing public engagement and civic vigilance as pillars of a healthy democracy.
She warned against any form of coercion or intimidation, particularly in situations where individuals raise concerns about alleged harassment or misconduct.
“No one should be silenced or pressured for speaking up,” she stated, stressing that justice and dignity must remain central in addressing sensitive disputes.
Akpoti-Uduaghan appealed for constructive engagement between the parties, urging a peaceful and good-faith resolution through dialogue rather than confrontation.
She also disclosed plans to personally meet with both sides upon her return to Abuja in a bid to explore avenues for amicable resolution.
The matter continues to generate public conversation, with renewed calls for transparency, accountability and strict adherence to constitutional rights.
