Kogi Central senator Empowers 100+ Constituents with Electric Vehicles

Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has handed over electric vehicles to more than 100 professionally trained beneficiaries drawn from across the district, in what observers describe as a landmark empowerment initiative.
According to a statement issued by her media office, the beneficiaries were selected from the five local government areas of Kogi Central and underwent intensive technical and operational training prior to receiving the vehicles. The training was facilitated by professional engineers from the Electric Motor Vehicle Company (EMVC).
The fully sponsored programme was designed to equip participants with the skills needed to safely operate, manage, and maintain electric vehicles, ensuring both competence and long-term sustainability.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan highlighted the global shift toward clean energy and sustainable transportation, describing electric vehicles as the future of mobility.
“The world is moving toward cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions. Electric vehicles are not just cars; they represent a broader vision to protect our environment, reduce fuel dependency, and create new economic opportunities for our people,” she said.
She noted that the initiative aligns with her broader agenda of empowerment, innovation, and economic advancement in Kogi Central.
“This programme goes beyond handing over vehicles. It is about creating sustainable livelihoods, strengthening local capacity, and positioning our youths and entrepreneurs to participate in the evolving technological revolution. I am particularly proud that the beneficiaries were comprehensively trained by professionals to ensure competence and safety,” she added.
The senator urged the beneficiaries to prioritize discipline and road safety, emphasizing responsible driving and regular maintenance.
“Drive carefully and responsibly. Your lives are precious, as are the lives of other road users. Avoid speeding, obey traffic regulations, and ensure regular maintenance of these vehicles,” she advised.
Encouraging a community-centered approach, she called on recipients to use the opportunity to uplift others and contribute positively to local development.
Observers described the initiative as a forward-thinking intervention that combines environmental sustainability with economic empowerment, reinforcing the senator’s innovation-driven approach to constituency development in Kogi Central.
