HallowMace Africa Marks 10 Years with Maiden National Legislative Awards 2026

In celebration of a decade of sustained advocacy for democratic accountability, HallowMace Africa has announced the maiden edition of the National Legislative Awards 2026, a landmark event designed to honour excellence within Nigeria’s legislative institutions.
The awards ceremony is slated for July 9, 2026, at the NAF Conference Centre, beginning at 4:00 p.m., and is expected to convene lawmakers, policy stakeholders, development partners, civil society actors and members of the diplomatic community.
Organisers said the 2026 edition represents more than an anniversary celebration — it is a strategic reaffirmation of HallowMace Africa’s 10-year commitment to strengthening democratic governance, promoting legislative productivity and recognising measurable impact in public service.
Merit-Driven, Regionally Balanced Recognition
To ensure credibility and national inclusiveness, only three lawmakers from each of Nigeria’s six geo-political zones will be honoured. The selection framework, according to the organisers, prioritises merit, transparency and performance over political affiliation.
“This is not about party lines; it is about performance,” the statement emphasised.
Voting and Expert-Based Categories
The awards will feature both voting and non-voting categories to balance public participation with professional assessment.
Voting categories include:
Most Outstanding Senator of the Year (Per Zone)
Most Outstanding Member of the House of Representatives (Per Zone)
Most Outstanding Speaker of the Year (Per Zone – State House of Assembly)
Most Outstanding Parliamentary Staff of the Year (National Assembly)
Most Outstanding Legislative Aide of the Year
Most Outstanding Parliamentary News Reporter of the Year (Senate)
Most Outstanding Parliamentary News Reporter of the Year (House of Representatives)
Winners in these categories will emerge through a combination of public voting, legislative performance indicators, and media and policy impact assessments. The official voting portal is scheduled to go live on March 2, 2026, providing Nigerians with the opportunity to actively participate in celebrating quality representation.
The non-voting categories, on the other hand, will be determined strictly on legislative productivity, oversight effectiveness, constituency impact and institutional leadership.
In a statement signed by Amb. Oguh Hyginus John, Head of the Public Communications Desk, HallowMace Africa described the initiative as a platform dedicated to inspiring higher standards of responsibility, accountability and service within the legislature.
As Nigeria continues to consolidate its democratic journey, the National Legislative Awards 2026 seeks to spotlight lawmakers who translate mandate into measurable development, reinforcing the principle that public office is a call to service.
