The Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has validated the outcome of the 2025 national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), bringing clarity to months of internal contestation over the party’s leadership.
In a ruling delivered on Friday, Justice Ladiran Akintola dismissed applications seeking to halt the proceedings and granted all 13 reliefs filed by the claimant, Folahan Malomo Adelabi, through his counsel, Musbau Adetunmbi. The judgment effectively seals the legitimacy of the convention held on November 15 and 16, 2025.
With the court’s pronouncement, the National Working Committee led by Dr. Taminu Turaki stands firmly recognized in law, reinforcing the authority of the party’s national leadership and closing the chapter on disputes surrounding the Ibadan gathering.
Taraba Chapter Faces Internal Shake-Up
While the national leadership secures judicial backing, turbulence has surfaced in Taraba State. A newly inaugurated 16-member Caretaker Committee has ordered members of the dissolved State Working Committee to vacate the party’s secretariat.
In a statement signed by the committee’s chairman, Dr. Falack Victor, the former officials were cautioned that remaining in office premises after their removal could trigger legal action, describing such action as inconsistent with due process.
The developments reflect a party navigating internal realignments, even as it consolidates its leadership structure at the national level.
