The Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has called on residents to embrace religious tolerance, vigilance and peaceful coexistence as Muslims across the world commence fasting in the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, the Governor described Ramadan as a sacred season of fasting, prayer, reflection and spiritual renewal for the Muslim Ummah.
According to him, the holy month presents an opportunity for believers to strengthen their relationship with Almighty Allah and recommit to the enduring values of compassion, charity, humility and self-discipline.
Governor Ododo urged Muslim faithful in Kogi State to dedicate the Ramadan period to prayers for sustained peace, stability and development of the state and Nigeria at large.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding freedom of worship and promoting harmonious coexistence among people of different faiths across the state.
The Governor also prayed that Almighty Allah accepts the fasts, supplications and acts of charity of Muslims, while encouraging them to remain law-abiding, vigilant and supportive of efforts aimed at ensuring continued peace and progress in Kogi State.
He further enjoined Muslims to extend kindness and support to the less privileged, stressing that love, generosity and compassion remain the true essence of Ramadan.
