Nenadi-led LP Hails Police for Foiling Secretariat Attack

The Labour Party (LP) has commended the Nigerian Police for their swift action in thwarting an attempted break-in at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday night.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Ken Asogwa, Special Adviser on Media to the Interim National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman, said suspects apprehended in connection with the incident are already cooperating with security agencies and providing intelligence that could expose those behind the act.
Asogwa noted that the timely police intervention restored calm at the secretariat, while commending party supporters across the country for remaining vigilant.
He warned that the party would no longer tolerate internal sabotage, alleging that elements linked to the former leadership attempted to gain unlawful access to the premises under the cover of darkness.
“The leadership of the Labour Party is no longer in dispute,” the statement said, stressing that court judgments on the matter are definitive and have been fully implemented by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the party, INEC has formally recognised Senator Nenadi Usman as National Chairman and Senator Darlington Nwokocha as National Secretary, in line with the court’s decision.
The statement further urged security agencies to pursue all individuals using the party’s name to mislead or defraud the public, describing such actors as impostors operating without lawful authority.
The party also cautioned members against actions capable of undermining its stability, insisting that Nigeria operates under the rule of law and not mob pressure.
The incident occurred barely 24 hours after the Usman-led Interim National Working Committee (INWC) formally assumed control of the party’s national secretariat in Utako, Abuja.
