Vice President (Oil & Gas) of Dangote Industries Limited, Devakumar V. G. Edwin, has been honored with the prestigious Person of the Year award at the 9th Annual Award and Lecture of the Daily Asset Newspapers. The accolade recognizes his exceptional contributions to Nigeria’s oil and gas sector and his pivotal role in advancing operations and strategic communications at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals (DPRP).
Speaking at the award ceremony, Dr. Cletus Akwaya, Publisher of Daily Asset Newspaper, hailed Mr. Edwin as instrumental to the success of DPRP. He noted that under Edwin’s leadership, the Dangote Refinery has continued to transform the nation’s refining capacity, enhance product availability, and support Nigeria’s broader economic diversification agenda.
Dr. Akwaya emphasized that Mr. Edwin’s dedication to transparent stakeholder engagement, industry advocacy, and effective corporate communication has shaped public understanding of the refinery’s strategic importance to Nigeria and Africa’s energy sector.
“His recognition as Person of the Year further demonstrates the growing impact of the Dangote Refinery as a catalyst for industrial growth, job creation, and sustainable national development,” he said.
Celebrated Across Africa
Dr. Akwaya added that Mr. Edwin’s efforts should be honored not just in Nigeria but across Africa for changing the narrative of the nation’s petroleum sector. According to him, the Dangote Refinery has helped Nigeria attain self-sufficiency in petroleum products, reducing import dependence and stimulating economic growth.
“For this effort, Engr. Edwin is Daily Asset’s iconic Corporate Achiever/Person of the Year,” he concluded.
Mr. Edwin, represented at the event by Dangote Group’s Senior General Manager, External Relations/Stakeholder Management, Alhaji Abatcha Bishara, expressed gratitude to the Daily Asset management for recognizing his contributions.
