Jigawa Speaker Dangyatin Elected Chairman of Progressive Speakers Conference

The Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, has been elected Chairman of the Progressive Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly, the body announced at its annual congress in Abuja.
The Progressive Speakers Conference serves as a coordination platform for APC-led state assemblies, tasked with promoting the party’s philosophy, strengthening internal cooperation, advancing democracy, and fostering peace and national development.
Key Officers Elected
Deputy Chairman (South): Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly
Deputy Chairman (North): Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly
Treasurer: Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly
Six zonal vice chairmen were also elected, including Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide of Ogun State representing the South-West, and the Speaker of Plateau State for the North-Central zone.
The new executives are scheduled to be sworn in on Monday, February 9, 2026.
Governor Congratulates Dangyatin
Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar Namadi congratulated Dangyatin on what he described as a well-deserved victory, noting the timing was critical as the APC gears up for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Hamisu Muhammed Gumel, Governor Namadi expressed confidence that the Jigawa Speaker would leverage his experience to strengthen coordination among APC-led assemblies and significantly contribute to the party’s success across all levels.
