In a statement on Wednesday, the senator described the killings as a grim failure of the state’s core duty to protect its citizens, warning that repeated expressions of sympathy without decisive action have become hollow. She extended condolences to bereaved families and traumatised communities, noting that the violence has left scars far beyond the immediate victims.
“The killing of innocent Nigerians cannot be normalised,” Akpoti-Uduaghan said. “Entire families are being shattered by violence that should never be allowed to fester. Safeguarding lives and ensuring justice are not optional responsibilities.”
She called on both the federal government and the Kwara State authorities to move beyond assurances and deliver tangible security outcomes, stressing that swift, transparent investigations are crucial to rebuilding public trust and preventing further attacks.
“Perpetrators must be identified and prosecuted,” she said. “Anything less emboldens criminality and exposes vulnerable communities to repeat attacks.”
The senator urged security agencies to adopt intelligence-led operations and deepen collaboration with local communities, while also addressing the root causes driving insecurity. Political leaders, she added, must match rhetoric with resolve.
