Gov. Ododo Appoints Prof. Ogbo Usman as VC of PAAU, Dr. Avidime as Kogi Poly Rector

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has approved the appointment of Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, a Professor of Political Economy and Development, as the new Vice Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba.
A statement by the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Dr. (Mrs.) Folashade Arike Ayoade, on Monday in Lokoja, said the appointment follows the expiration of the tenure of the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Marietu Ohunene Tenuche.
Prof. Usman, until his appointment, served as Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, where he is credited with restoring the institution’s academic standards and improving infrastructure. An indigene of Angwa-Ogebe in Ankpa Local Government Area, he brings decades of experience in public service and academia, having risen from Administrative Assistant at the University of Ilorin in 2003 to Professor of Political Science at the Federal University Lokoja in 2024.
Governor Ododo commended the outgoing VC for her service and achievements and urged Prof. Usman to build on her legacy in his new role.
In a related development, the Governor also approved the appointment of Dr. Sanusi Salifu Avidime as Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja. Dr. Avidime, a Nigerian scholar, holds a B.Sc. in Political Science from Usmanu Dan Fodio University, a Master’s in Public Policy and Administration from Bayero University Kano, an M.Sc. in Public Finance from the University of Calabar, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from PAAU, Anyigba.
Governor Ododo congratulated the new appointees, urging them to justify the confidence placed in them and to continue advancing the quality of higher education in Kogi State.
