Former Chief of Staff to the Imo State Government, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, has described grassroots-driven empowerment initiatives as a practical and sustainable pathway to community development.
Nwosu made the remarks in Obingwa, Abia State, during a civic reception and empowerment programme organised by the member representing Obingwa West State Constituency, Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr.
He said the initiative clearly demonstrated leadership that delivers tangible benefits to the people, stressing that effective governance should be measured by visible improvements in the lives of citizens rather than mere political rhetoric.
The former Chief of Staff also noted that strategic collaboration and alignment with broader political structures could further accelerate development and attract increased opportunities to the constituency.
Beneficiaries of the programme said the intervention would boost small-scale businesses, enhance healthcare delivery and strengthen overall economic activities within the area.
Items distributed at the event included vehicles, motorcycles, dialysis machines, medical equipment, laptops, business support tools and financial assistance.
The programme attracted high-profile dignitaries, including former Governor of Abia State and Ambassador-designate, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu; former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Dr. Chris Akomas; Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa; lawmakers and other political stakeholders.
Traditional rulers, youth and women groups, as well as residents of the constituency, attended the event, which recorded a large turnout and a celebratory atmosphere.
