Member representing the very good people of Ikeja Federal Constituency of Lagos State
Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, has rejected a report alleging that he was involved in a purported one-term political agreement in Kogi State, describing the claim as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Faleke faulted a publication by online platform TrackNews, which claimed that the Presidency directed former Governor Yahaya Bello and Governor Usman Ododo to honour an alleged one-term arrangement said to involve him.
The lawmaker categorically denied any knowledge of, or participation in, such an agreement, stating that he was neither consulted nor involved in any discussion relating to a one-term deal in Kogi State.
“At no point did I engage in any conversation or arrangement concerning a one-term agreement in Kogi State,” Faleke said. “The report is entirely fabricated and has no basis in fact.”
Faleke explained that the publication triggered widespread reactions, including numerous calls and messages seeking clarification, making it necessary to publicly address the issue and set the record straight.
He urged the public to disregard the report in its entirety, stressing that it does not reflect reality and should not be treated as credible information.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Finance also called on media organisations to adhere to professional standards of accuracy and verification, warning that unverified political reports can misinform the public and generate unnecessary tension.
Faleke reaffirmed his commitment to responsible leadership and transparent public communication, adding that false narratives should not be allowed to thrive in the public space.
