ADC Slams Tinubu’s $9 Million US Lobbying Amid National Crises

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly condemned the federal government’s reported $9 million expenditure on US lobbying services, calling it “scandalous and indefensible” at a time Nigerians face escalating insecurity and economic hardship.

ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said the move reflects “misplaced priorities,” arguing that no foreign propaganda campaign can cover up the government’s failure to protect lives and property.

The party also criticized the administration for outsourcing diplomacy while key ambassadorial positions remain vacant, labeling the decision a “diplomatic failure” that reduces Nigeria’s foreign policy to transactional image management.
Warning that framing the lobbying as a campaign to “communicate Christian protection efforts” risks fueling sectarian tensions, the ADC said security failures affect all Nigerians and cannot be solved through selective messaging abroad.
“Nigeria needs leadership, not propaganda,” Abdullahi said, urging the government to focus resources on protecting citizens, restoring institutional trust, and addressing the country’s worsening crises.
