A horrific accident on the Lokoja–Ajaokuta highway left five dead, including three children, and seven others injured on Tuesday at Gidan Bassa in Kogi State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reported that a Toyota Avensis and a Dangote Cement Sino truck collided head-on around 11:40 a.m., resulting in instant fatalities.
The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the Kogi State Specialist Hospital morgue in Lokoja.
FRSC attributed the crash to wrongful overtaking and urged motorists to exercise caution on the highways.
