HOSTCOM President Urges Government to Address Host Community Concerns in Final Year

The National President of HOSTCOM, His Highness Dr. Benjamin Style Tamaranebi, has called on the Federal Government and relevant agencies to urgently address long-standing concerns of host communities, describing 2026 as a decisive year for engagement and concrete action.
Speaking in a New Year broadcast to members, Dr. Tamaranebi said the final year of his administration would be dedicated to ensuring that unresolved issues affecting host communities are meaningfully addressed, warning that neglect could undermine peace, development and cooperation in oil-producing areas.
“This is the final year of our administration, and we intend to use it to press firmly but responsibly for solutions to the challenges confronting our people,” he said. “Host communities have shown patience, resilience and commitment to peace. It is time for government to reciprocate with action.”
The HOSTCOM president said despite years of dialogue, many host communities continue to face inadequate infrastructure, environmental degradation, unemployment and unmet development commitments.
He urged the Federal Government, state governments and relevant institutions to move beyond promises and adopt practical, people-centred interventions in 2026.
“Our struggles have been peaceful and progressive, but they must yield results. This year must deliver visible impact and lasting solutions,” he said.
Dr. Tamaranebi said HOSTCOM would intensify engagement with government agencies, oil companies and development partners in the final year of the administration, stressing that the organisation remains committed to dialogue, cooperation and national stability.
He also thanked members for their support throughout the tenure, noting that unity within HOSTCOM has been key to sustaining advocacy for host communities.
“From the beginning, we have fought together to uphold standards and defend the interests of host communities. This final year is not a retreat—it is a push for results,” he said.
The HOSTCOM president reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to peaceful advocacy, urging members to remain law-abiding while demanding accountability.
As Nigeria steps into 2026, Dr. Tamaranebi expressed optimism that meaningful progress could still be achieved before the end of his tenure, calling on government authorities to seize the opportunity to build trust and leave a positive legacy.
“This year can mark a turning point. Government must listen, engage and act,” he said.
