Bello rallies APC members as Kogi launches e-registration

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has commenced an electronic membership registration exercise as part of efforts to modernise party operations and strengthen engagement with members at the grassroots.
The exercise, directed by the party’s national leadership, was formally launched on Monday by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, who became one of the first party members to be registered electronically. The registration is expected to cover all 21 local government areas of the state.
Former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, also participated in the exercise, completing his registration at Agasa Ward in Okene Local Government Area, alongside party officials, grassroots members and supporters.
Speaking after his registration, Bello described the electronic system as a timely initiative that would enhance internal party organisation, improve communication between the leadership and members, and ensure a more accurate and credible membership database.
He urged party members to fully participate in the exercise, noting that the APC remains an inclusive platform committed to internal reforms and effective mobilisation.
Bello also called on party members to continue supporting President Bola Tinubu, saying the administration’s reforms were aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable economic growth and global competitiveness. He appealed for patience, acknowledging that reforms often come with short-term challenges.
According to him, the electronic registration process, which requires the National Identification Number (NIN), would also enable more transparent access to government programmes and interventions for registered members.
Earlier, the state APC chairman, Abdullahi Bello, said the registration would be extended to all wards and local government areas after the initial phase involving key party figures. He appealed to members for cooperation, stressing that the success of the exercise depended on active grassroots participation.
Party officials said the move reflects broader efforts by the APC to modernise its internal processes and improve planning and coordination ahead of future political contests.
