Residents of Zing Local Government Area in Taraba State have praised the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, John Kizito Bonzina, for delivering development projects that are transforming daily life and improving access to education.
Community leaders told journalists during a recent tour that long-standing challenges, such as NYSC members’ reluctance to accept rural postings due to lack of accommodation, have been largely resolved. Newly constructed, well-equipped corpers’ lodges in Yakoko, Monkin, and surrounding communities have made rural service more attractive, easing hardship for members and encouraging broader participation.
In education, new examination centres in Dindin and other locations now allow students to sit for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) closer to home, eliminating the need for long and sometimes unsafe journeys.
Bonzina’s interventions also extend to rural electrification, with new transformers reducing travel for basic services, and to infrastructure, where bridges damaged by floods have been restored to reconnect isolated communities.
Community leaders commended the Speaker’s personal commitment, urging collaboration from other elected officials to sustain and expand these efforts. Vice Chairman Cletus Yohana pledged to protect the new facilities to ensure they continue benefiting residents.
Recognising that many areas in Zing are classified as “hard to reach” by development partners, Bonzina assured constituents that more dividends of democracy are on the way, calling for ongoing support and engagement from the communities.
