The Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), has achieved significant milestones in the fight against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in the North-East, neutralizing 438 terrorists in the past seven months, the Theatre Commander, Maj.-Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, announced on Saturday.
Speaking at a Christmas Luncheon in Maiduguri, Abubakar, who commands OPHK’s North-East Sector 1, detailed the achievements of the coordinated operations conducted between May and December 2025.
According to the Theatre Commander, the troops recovered 254 assorted weapons, seized 300 Starlink communication devices, and successfully rescued 366 civilians from various terrorist enclaves. He added that 881 Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters, along with their families, surrendered during the period, marking a significant step toward stabilizing the region.
“The surrender of insurgents and their families, alongside these operational successes, underscores the progress we have made in restoring security and normalcy in the Joint Operations Area,” Abubakar said.
The army general noted that the Christmas celebration coincided with ongoing dry-season operations in the Theatre and reassured the Chief of Army Staff of the troops’ unwavering commitment to maintain the momentum of operations against insurgent groups.
Abubakar attributed the successes to the strategic interventions and leadership of the Chief of Army Staff, which he said played a pivotal role in sustaining operational effectiveness in the region.
The announcement reflects the continued efforts of the Nigerian Armed Forces to degrade terrorist capabilities and enhance security for civilians in the North-East, even during festive periods.
