Casual Staff Killed at Gombe Government House: Watchman Arrested

Government House on Friday afternoon when a casual staff member, Baba Usama, responsible for borehole operations, was allegedly murdered by a young watchman.
Police reported that 19-year-old Shuaibu Adamu, also known as “Yaya Mama” of Mallam Kuri Quarters, allegedly drugged and strangled Usama with a rope at around 3:50 pm. The victim was discovered with his trousers tied around his neck and a local intoxicant inserted in his mouth. Despite being rushed to the Specialist Hospital, Gombe, he was pronounced dead.
CCTV footage reviewed by police reportedly captured Adamu assaulting Usama before fleeing the scene. Acting swiftly, the Gombe State Police tracked the suspect to his hideout in Bagadaza Quarters and arrested him at approximately 11 pm on the same day.
During initial interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime. He remains in custody as investigations continue to determine the full circumstances and to ensure a thorough prosecution.
The Gombe State Police Command, led by Commissioner Umar Ahmed Chuso, reassured the public of its commitment to protecting lives and ensuring justice for all workers within and around government facilities.
