In line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on social protection and poverty alleviation, the Buji Local Government Council in Jigawa State has deployed 23 teams to register 6,500 vulnerable households under the Federal Government’s Social Investment Programme (SIP).
The exercise, implemented through the Renewed Hope Palliative Programme, is aimed at cushioning the effects of economic hardship and improving the socio-economic well-being of vulnerable persons at the grassroots.
Speaking during the distribution of work tools at Gantsa, the headquarters of Buji Local Government Area, the council chairman, Arch. Najibullah Falalu Tukur, said the initiative reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to inclusive governance and targeted welfare interventions.
According to him, the registration exercise covers beneficiaries of the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) scheme and other SIP components, with emphasis on transparency, accountability and accurate data capture.
“This exercise targets over 6,500 beneficiaries from Buji Local Government Area under the Social Investment Programme and the Renewed Hope Palliative initiative, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” Tukur said.
He disclosed that mobile smartphones had been distributed to the 23 teams of facilitators and supervisors deployed for the CCT verification exercise, which commenced immediately after the ceremony.
As part of efforts to boost agricultural productivity, the chairman also presented letters of offer to indigenous tractor operators engaged under the Jigawa State Farm Mechanization Service Company Limited. The operators are to serve the Gantsa and Sagu centres to enhance food production.
Tukur further revealed that the council had received 1,000 bags of locally produced Tomb Brown, which will be distributed free to 10 apex health facilities across the local government to support malnourished children and strengthen healthcare delivery.
He described the interventions as a demonstration of the people-oriented leadership of Jigawa State Governor, Mallam Umar Namadi, FCA, whose social protection initiatives, he said, complement the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The chairman urged beneficiaries to utilise the support responsibly to ensure sustainable impact and contribute to the development of Buji Local Government Area.
