Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State and Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom, Chief Ayirimi Emami, has called on security agencies to swiftly track down and prosecute those responsible for the killing of Emiko Onuwaje in Warri South-West Local Government Area.
Chief Emami made the call in a statement issued on Monday after paying a condolence visit to the family of the deceased, describing the killing as senseless, regrettable and inhumane, especially when perpetrated by people from the same community.
Condemning the incident in strong terms, Emami lamented that “brothers would resort to violence over minor differences,” warning that such actions only set communities back and derail collective progress.
He urged Ugborodo indigenes to close ranks and work with security agencies to flush out criminal elements, stressing that the vision to fast-track development across Ugborodo Federated Communities must not be allowed to collapse due to the actions of a few individuals with criminal tendencies.
“I urge our people to remain calm and allow the police and other law enforcement agencies to get to the root of the killing of this innocent man and ultimately fish out the culprits,” Emami said.
According to him, resorting to reprisals or actions capable of triggering unrest would only worsen the situation. “It will not be in our interest to instigate a crisis that could lead to a total breakdown of law and order. It will not bring back the dead. Our demand is justice for the deceased and for the bereaved family,” he added.
Emami further cautioned against any conduct that could undermine ongoing efforts by government and stakeholders to bring development to the area, noting that peace and stability remain critical to attracting meaningful progress.
“At a time when government is making efforts to deliver development to our community, we should not engage in actions that will sabotage these efforts,” he said.
He reassured the family of the deceased of his support and called on security agencies to act decisively to ensure that those behind the killing are brought to justice, saying accountability remains the surest path to lasting peace in the community.
