Jigawa PDP Blasts Suspension of Lamido, Demands Immediate Reinstatement

The Jigawa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly condemned the suspension of His Excellency, Sule Lamido, CON, from the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), calling the move “unjust, vindictive, and damaging to party unity.”
In a statement signed by Dr. Babandi Ibrahim Gumel, State Chairman of PDP Jigawa, the party emphasized that Lamido’s actions were within his legal rights.
The former governor had gone to court after being denied a nomination form to contest for the PDP National Chairmanship. The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Peter Lifu, had restrained the party from proceeding with its national convention until Lamido’s right to contest was fully determined.
“The suspension of a founding member for exercising a lawful right undermines internal democracy and contradicts the BoT’s recent calls for reconciliation,” the statement read.
The Jigawa PDP further warned that the action threatens party cohesion and risks alienating loyal members at a time when unity is crucial for challenging the ruling APC. The chapter demanded that the BoT immediately revoke the suspension and publicly reaffirm the rights of all members to aspire to leadership positions without fear of victimization.
“The PDP must uphold the rule of law, respect its members, and demonstrate that loyalty and justice are never punishable,” the statement concluded.
