Leaders of the ACCORD Party in the North-West have passed a vote of confidence on the party’s national leadership under Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem, reaffirming their support for his stewardship.
The endorsement was contained in a statement signed by the Jigawa State Chairman of ACCORD, Alhaji Adamu Isah Inshallah, and made available to National Update in Dutse on Sunday.
According to the statement, the vote of confidence was unanimously adopted at a meeting of the North-West ACCORD National Working Committee and State Chairmen, held at Three Stars Hotel, Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.
The leaders said the decision was in recognition of the national chairman’s “tireless efforts” in uniting, strengthening and repositioning the party nationwide.
They dismissed reports suggesting division or factionalisation within ACCORD, describing such claims as misleading and unfounded, and urged Nigerians to disregard them.
Instead, the statement encouraged the public to focus on the party’s manifesto, which it said offers people-oriented programmes capable of moving the country forward under inclusive leadership.
Alhaji Adamu Isah Inshallah also condemned the actions of the party’s former presidential candidate, Professor Christopher Emumolen, accusing him of attempting to sow discord within the party.
He said Professor Emumolen is no longer a member of ACCORD, having been expelled over alleged anti-party activities, including reportedly supporting the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The party leadership further commended the Osun State Governor for what it described as a bold decision to join the ACCORD Party, assuring him of full support ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
It pledged the commitment of ACCORD leaders and members in the North-West to mobilise resources and political structures to secure victory for the party in the election.
