***Appeals to Security Agencies
A Lagos-based media executive has accused officials of the Enugu State Government of assault, illegal detention, and intimidation, claiming that the actions have left him partially blind and caused severe personal and financial hardships.
In a detailed open letter dated December 2, 2025, Innocent Chas Kwantagora, Managing Director of Daart-Chas Integrated Media Services, alleged that on November 14, 2025, he was assaulted during a peaceful protest outside the Enugu State Government House over an unpaid ₦10 million contractual obligation dating back to 2024. According to Chas Kwantagora, the Special Adviser on Security to the Governor of Enugu State allegedly inflicted multiple blows to his eyes, leaving him partially blind in his left eye.
He further claimed that he was taken by police officers under the orders of the security adviser, only to be abandoned along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway with his personal and official documents confiscated. The media executive said this followed a similar incident last year when he was reportedly abducted at night by a government house police officer and later released.
In the letter, Chas Kwantagora said the prolonged refusal to settle the financial obligation has caused him “enormous personal and financial hardship,” including losing custody of his three children and suffering emotional trauma. He emphasized that he has sought peaceful resolution through lawful channels but is now appealing to security and human rights agencies for urgent intervention.
The open letter was copied to the Department of State Services (DSS), the Office of the National Security Adviser, and other relevant authorities, urging them to investigate the allegations, recover his confiscated documents, and ensure his safety.
The Enugu State Government has not yet responded to requests for comment on the allegations.

Chas Kwantagora’s appeal highlights concerns about abuse of office and the safety of citizens seeking redress from government institutions, raising questions about accountability and rule of law in the state.
