The Jigawa State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (JSPCACC) has recovered ₦385.4 million from corruption-related cases since commencing full operations in April 2024
The Executive Chairman of the Commission, Barrister Salisu Abdu, disclosed this in Dutse during activities marking the 2025 International Anti-Corruption Day (IACD), themed “Your Voice, Our Action: Report, Resist and Build a Corruption-Free Jigawa State.”
Barrister Abdu described corruption as the greatest threat to sustainable development in Jigawa State, warning that misappropriation of public funds continues to result in poor healthcare delivery, failing educational institutions, and abandoned infrastructure projects.
Providing an update on the Commission’s performance, he revealed that the JSPCACC has so far received 479 complaints, investigated 110 cases involving corruption and financial crimes, filed 20 cases in court, and handled 115 asset and funds recovery cases.
He further noted that within the period under review, the Commission resolved 107 public complaints through mediation and protected 14 whistleblowers in line with its whistleblower protection policy.
According to him, several senior public officials and contractors were either arrested or formally invited during investigations, stressing that the Commission operates on the principle that no individual is above the law, regardless of status or position.
Barrister Abdu explained that the Commission has also intensified public sensitization and awareness campaigns through radio programs, social media engagements, and capacity-building workshops for senior public officers. He added that similar programs are scheduled to be extended to local government areas across the state.
Looking ahead, the JSPCACC Chairman announced plans to introduce a digital complaints reporting portal, deploy modern accounting software, and integrate anti-corruption education into school curricula as part of efforts to strengthen preventive and institutional measures.
He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to conducting its mandate with fairness, firmness, transparency, and full respect for the rule of law, as it continues the fight against corruption in Jigawa State.
