The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has launched a sweeping nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking networks, dismantling six major syndicates, seizing tons of illicit drugs, and arresting nine kingpins in coordinated intelligence-led operations.
In Onitsha, Anambra State, two suspects—Ebulue Lotanwa Uzochukwu (30) and Christopher Michael Ndibuisi (51)—were arrested attempting to collect a shipment of methamphetamine, Loud cannabis, cocaine, phenacetin, methcathinone, and caffeine hidden inside imported machine cylinders from South Africa. The shipment had arrived at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport on 13 November.
At Lagos Airport, NDLEA operatives intercepted 2.3 kg of cocaine concealed inside a brake servo auto part destined for Gabon, arresting freight agent Ameh Solomon and dealer Nwafor Tochukwu Boniface.
In Kogi State, a trailer carrying 4.7 tons of skunk cannabis was seized, and three suspects were arrested. Follow-up operations in Plateau State led to the capture of the kingpin, Marcus Danladi Dan Mangu. Meanwhile, in Cross River State, a couple was apprehended with 4,706 kg of skunk at their warehouse.
Edo State authorities arrested two women, Praise Nwogu (19) and Ebong Emem Oghosa (25), involved in producing and selling drug-laced brownies online. Other successful operations across Enugu, Kebbi, Borno, Niger, FCT, and Lagos recovered thousands of opioid pills, codeine syrup, cannabis, Colorado, tramadol capsules, and firearms.
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) praised the operatives and emphasized the crackdown is aimed at pre-empting heightened drug trafficking during the festive season. “Drug cartels often increase illegal activities during holidays. We will not relent,” he stated.
In addition to interdictions, NDLEA continues its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaigns in schools, workplaces, and communities across the country to educate citizens about the dangers of illicit drugs.
The Agency reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling trafficking networks, enforcing drug laws, and protecting public health nationwide.
